Dogme 96

Dogma 95, at the time, may have been a good idea for producers. The main thesis for the movement, in my opinion, was to have a way for producers with not a lot of resources to make a mediocre movie and get it out into the mainstream. The cost of production would be cut drastically when not having to use props, extra sound effects, visual effects, lighting, or cameras. It would make everyone involved with the movie focus more on what is being filmed; actors and moviegoer's alike. Therefore, there would no longer be any movies out there like "Gigly." And not to mention there would be no sex scenes or killing in the movies so anyone could go and watch. The only time that would be used would be the here and now so we would be more focused on what is at hand.
In my opinion though, the idea is horrible. Most of us that go to the movies so we can see the killing, visual effects. We want to be scared so much that we pee in our pants. We want to be able to imagine what the future will be like even though we are not able to fly with cars yet. The visual effects are what make the whole movie. The better that they look, the more the sound effects blow us out of our chairs, the more we will want to go see the movie over again.

Have You Seen Saw?

If you haven't seen saw let me be the first to tell you that it is not for the weak of heart..or stomach. the first two movies use both open and closed frames, but more of the open frames. it is used a lot when there is a scene where someone decides to cut some random part of their body off. i believe that those are the worst parts because you can't see what's going on so your imagination gets the best of you. thoses scenes really freak me out because you know what's going to happen but you cant see it. then again you have the closed scenes where you see people being burned alive, or being decapitated, and those just make you wanna puke.

Of Mice and Men

So two thursdays ago i got the chance to host a prospective student. i was really excited to get the chance because it doesnt happen to often. he called me the night before and asked me some questions about the things that happen on campus and about how excited he was to come. everytime i answered a question he said," oh that's really cool." he finally came on a thursday evening and as we were walking to my dorm he asked me some questions about the campus. as he was talking i remembered answering the same questions the day before. when he came back from celebration i asked him how it was and he said," oh it was really cool." before we went to sleep he had more questions to ask, the same that i answered earlier and to every answer he said,"oh that's really cool." the next morning we headed to breakfast with jon. tristian asked him a couple of questions and they were all the same ones that i had answered the day before. after breakfast we headed back to the barn and he once again told me how excited he was about staying and i said," yeah man that's really cool."
