Are You Serious

"Space, the final frontier. These are the voyages of the Starship Enterprise.
Her five year mission: to explore strange new worlds. To seek out new life
and new civilizations. To boldly go where no man has gone before"...That is what Captain Picard said at the beginning of each episode of Star Trek the Next Generation. Thanks to that series there have been many runoffs of the show such as Voyager, Deep Space Nine, and Enterprise. There have also been many different movies that have been made as well such as Nemesis, First Contact, and not to mention the series of nine from 1980 to 1998. But the one movie that is the least serious of them all is the documentary called "Trekkies".
Now as you all know we had to watch the movie in class and Rudd told us to take the movie seriously and take notes on it. Now i'm not gonna lie I thought I was gonna take it serious the class before because I had never heard of the movie. Wow. The first five minutes of the movie let me know that I was going to be laughing the whole time. The movie focused on the fast growing obsession of the television show. One of the people it focused on was a fifteen year old that was preparing to attend a convention of the show. His father equipped his old car into a space shuttle from the Next Generation Series, and he was able to get some lady that he knows to sew a uniform from the show for him to wear to the convention. Now when everyone saw this there was a huge uproar of laughter and snickering over the amount of time and effort that was required for all of this to happen, and the fact that there are kids our age that would actually want to do something like that. One of the ladies that were talked about wore her uniform to a trial at which she was a in the jury. You would think that if you were called to be in a jury trial that one should wear something appropriate for the occasion not a costume from a television show. Should we take this type of thing seriously. Maybe we should. Its not that far from the football fans that wear ourlandish things to football games and have tailgate parties starting at six in the morning on December 24th. Its not as crazy as some of us may think it to be. I'm sure we all have that something that we go absolute crazy for...star trek just happens to be there's...
