Musical Touches

so last class we had a huge discussion on music and how it effects the way we feel about certain parts of movies and television shows. i listened during the class and realized that i never really thought about music like that, so i put it to the test. early this morning, after the dance was over, i was laying in bed watching either animal planet or discovery channel and there was some show about monkeys on. this guy was in some remote forrest by himself and these apes in trees. now the guy had been walking around for a good ten minutes, with the monkeys jumping from tree to tree the whole time. he heard them, but was not able to see them and he became slightly frightened. i was totally fine because it wasn't me that had to worry about being attacked, but all of a sudden this scary music came on and my heart started to race. then i realized that i was in my room, by myself, in the dark. it really creeped me out, and then they put a picture up of a "demonic monkey" that they had computer generated and all the fear went away because it didn't look real at all. but the fact that i was fearless until the music came on made me realize that music plays a very important part in media. everytime you turn on the tv there is music. there are very few commercials without music. and if you hear that song that you can't get outta your head you by it on itunes or you just walk around with an annoying song in your head and you will always remember it as that geico song with the neanderthal walking through the airport...
